Below are a few tips to help you address some unexpected behavior that may
be encountered:

OS CONSIDERATIONS
- It is always recommended to install the latest and greatest service packs
available for the Windows operating system that you are running (e.g. XP 32
SP3, XP 64 SP2, Vista 32 SP1, and Vista 64 SP1). This LWS release will also
offer beta level application support for the Beta release of Windows 7. Logitech
Tech Support will not be able to address any issues regarding Windows 7 until
the new Operating System is officially released and available to the public.
- Cameras that are UVC capable can stream video without Logitech drivers;
however, for an improved experience and expanded feature set it is recommended
to install the Logitech Drivers. The improvements include but are not limited
to additional supported resolutions, RightLight and Rightsound technologies,
and various Video Effects.
- In situations where the camera is used with an Operating System that is
not supported, the camera must be UVC compatible. The non-supported Operating
System must support UVC drivers. The Logitech Vision Pro was developed specifically
with UVC uses on the Apple MAC OS in mind, without any hindrance or limitation
to functionality. Other UVC cameras are compatible in such an environment,
but the limited feature set statement holds true.
- If Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803) is not installed on the system running
Windows XP, the software will do so before continuing installation.
- Installation is only possible when installing with administrative privileges.
SYSTEM
CONSIDERATIONS
- To help improve a potential CPU utilization concern under certain circumstances
using Windows Vista refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953228.
- It has been observed that AMD processors utilize a bit more CPU than a
comparable Intel processor.
- CPU utilization may be an issue with systems that are below recommended
specifications. Additionally, there may be issues regarding the perception
of frame rate and/or image quality degradation when video is used in conjunction
with a video calling application. This is usually a result of less than optimal
transmissions speed of the network (bandwidth – data upload).
- In cases where streaming video results in obscure, unexpected, or multiple
shown images, it is required to turn off hardware acceleration. This can be
accomplished by running DXDIAG and disabling DirectDraw acceleration. The
option along with the button to enable/disable the feature can be found under
the Display tab.
- To avoid any video or audio compatibility issues, please be sure to have
the latest drivers for your video and sound cards installed.
- In situations following an installation, one may encounter a timing issue
where the LWS application has not recognized the camera. In many situation
one of the following approaches will address the issue:
- Unplug the camera from the USB and then reconnect to the same port
- Unplug the camera from the USB and re-connect to another port
- Exit the LWS application and re-launch it. This includes closing the
application from the system tray.
- It is always recommended to use a High Speed (USB 2.0) supported port.
The cameras will stream and function as expected; however, with Full Speed
ports (USB 1.1) there will be degradation in image quality and frame rate
that can only be addressed by connecting to a High Speed port.
- When connecting to USB hubs, there is a possibility of degradation as well
because of the length of cable, and power available to the hub (e.g. self
powered or not). If a USB hub is necessary, then make sure it is full powered.
- Logitech Software may not officially be recognized by all anti-virus software
solutions. In situations where the antivirus software flags Logitech components
during install one of the two approaches are recommended:
- Ensure answering the warning dialogs from the antivirus software allows
Logitech components to install. Do not prevent the components from installing.
- Quit the installation, and then disable the antivirus software before
continuing with the installation.
VIDEO EFFECTS
- In order for Video Effects to work, a filter needs to be attached to the
supporting application. In situations where Video Effects are not supported
with a desired application, a generic error message will be presented. In
order to correct this situation, visit the webcam settings pane available
on the webcam software ribbon, and select the Application Preferences tab. From
here you will be able to add your application to the video effects supported
list by selecting the settings option for the Video Effects applications support.
If the issue continues to be encountered after enabling the application, contact
support.
- Not all cameras support all the same Video Effects. If there is a question
with regards to the supported Video Effects for a particular camera please
refer to Logitech Support website for more information.
CAMERA SUPPORT
- If upgrading from an older release, one may observe two driver packages.
The legacy driver package retains the drivers from the older release in many
cases to help ensure that the camera will continue to function in some capacity
if the upgrade results in dropped camera support.
- This latest release does not support all cameras. This release is only
recommended for the following cameras. The reference to the PID (Product ID),
can be referenced under the Driver Properties page.

TROUBLESHOOTING
- Visit the Logitech Technical Support pages available online to assist with
any issue and/or questions you may have. Feel free to visit the Logitech forums
to help answer your questions, too.
- When an issue is encountered and data collection is required, refer to
the Diagnostic tool provided. Locate the Webcam icon on the system tray, and
then right mouse click on it. Select the Diagnostic tool option, and choose
the save as option if necessary.
- It is only possible to stream video from one application at a time. In
situation where one attempts to stream video and the video is streaming within
another application, the subsequent application stream will fail. User will
be notified that the camera is already in use. Refer to the running process
and close the application streaming. In many cases the issue is a result of
attempting to use a video calling application when either another video client
is in use, or LWS is streaming.
- In some cases recording a video may result in a generic error. This is
usually attributed to either disk space or microphone issue. Separate test
and validation of the audio device is recommended.
VIDEO CALLING SOFTWARE
CONSIDERATIONS
- In cases where there are issues setting up and using a specific video calling
application, it is recommended to contact them directly to assist with the
setup. You can also refer to our FAQ’s provided on our technical support page
to assist with the common areas of concerns with setup as it pertains to using
a specific video calling application.
FURTHER
CONSIDERATIONS
- For those cameras supporting auto focus, there may be times that auto focus
continues to adjust when the area of interest remains complete still.
- The email feature available with LWS is dependent on MAPI (Windows Messaging
API) compliance of the underlying MAPI client. If the desired email client
is not MAPI compliant, then the email will not attach the desired picture.
Many internet based email clients are not MAPI based.
- When using various video clients in conjunction with video effects, slow
connections resulting from the network bandwidth or specific limitation of
the IM client can result in a very static (unanimated) experience.
- There are some video clients that may require the video effects to be enabled
twice. The first attempt will fail; however, all subsequent uses will succeed.
- To present available hot key support within the application press the <ALT>
key. Once the <ALT> key is pressed, the supported hot keys available
will be identified.
